okay this is really important. really really important, because I feel society (at least North American society) is inundated with score cards from the blame game. pointy fingers and accusations and disrespect, all with an undertone of triviality.

if someone’s beliefs are not hurting you or negatively affecting you in any way, or are not being forcibly impressed into your own psyche - it really doesn’t matter whether said truths possess truth according to empirical data or if they run parallel to your personal perspective.

faith in and of itself is an individual endeavour. one possesses the right to express their faith in whatever form. it is not for you to assess the verity or legitimacy of this belief, because it is not in your prerogative to do so. dialogue and discussion should, of course, be encouraged. a healthy conversation can lend to further breadth in one’s knowledge, a transformative shaping and expansion of one’s worldview. yet however subtle, the act of mocking, disrespecting, or dismissing undermines the agency of the individual, and that is something that has been done long enough.

respect can go a long way. so take a couple of steps back and appreciate what it is someone has decided to share with the world.
